How do You Handle Transitions?
Let’s talk about our relationship with the Shepherd (Jesus) during times of transition. It’s so important to cleave to Him in these times. Do you know that you have to go through transitions to grow? That term itself has been taken over. Transition isn’t a term for LGBTQ. It’s a fantastic thing. Transition is always upon us; you shouldn’t hate it because it’s part of life.
So, do you fight change or aging? That outward change is the beauty and the makeup of God. Just because the outer part of us changes, the beauty on the inside doesn’t. It gets better. You should all write books about what God has done in your life. He has done such deep work; don’t grumble about aging and aches and pains. Embrace it.
So, if the Lord is my Shepherd, and I shall not want, that also means He guides us during transitions. We are not in lack. God has called us to thrive, not just survive. The enemy will make it seem like transitions are about survival. That’s a lie from the enemy.
But how do you thrive when everything is changing?
You have to recognize it’s part of life. Stop and ask God what He is doing. Transition is a season focused on inward retooling. During this time, you focus inward. Life is all about these cycles.
Favor with God is a rhythm of life. It’s when we ask God where He is placing us. That means finding out what our new assignment is. You find that by following the Holy Spirit (being led by the Shepherd). God is doing deep work inside of you.
We operate in seasons.
Predicable indicators help us recognize these seasons of transition. Let’s look at them.
Loss of passion or interest in what you are doing.
Confusion about what lack of energy means. It can be scary because we’ve grown attached to life as it is/was. We think something is wrong when it changes.
We tell ourselves we need to get it together and continue. We push to get back to the way it was. But we shouldn’t.
God is no longer supporting your efforts. When this happens, you better move to where He went.
Lack of direction. During this time, we need to sit and ask. what He’s doing.
Hearing God say, “let go .”We must let Him do it and rest in Him during this time.
God is in these things.
His plan is to separate our identity from our doing (our work).
Often during transitions, we pray against what God is trying to do. We waste a year or more before we realize He wants us to sit in it.
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
Lean in and let Him provide direction. God, do what you want to do!!
