The Family I See

In Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, we are reminded that “two are better than one,” and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. This truth resonates deeply within our church family.

As we journey through the Scriptures, we encounter profound stories that echo through the ages, shaping our understanding of faith and community. Today, we continue to reflect on the remarkable transformation of Saul into Paul, a journey that illustrates the power of God’s grace and the importance of community support.

In Acts 9, we witness Saul’s dramatic encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. Formerly a persecutor of Christians, Saul’s life was forever changed as he became a passionate follower of Christ. Despite initial apprehensions, Barnabas’s intervention highlights the crucial role of companionship and encouragement in our spiritual journeys. Together, they embarked on a mission, demonstrating the strength of a threefold cord that cannot be easily broken.

As Saul, now Paul, continued his ministry, we saw the ebb and flow of relationships within the early Christian community. Acts 15 recounts both the unity and discord among the apostles, emphasizing the complexities of human relationships. Yet, amidst disagreements, the importance of discernment and guidance from God remains essential. Through Acts, we learn that our willingness to say “yes” to God’s call can move the Kingdom forward, even amidst those uncertainties and departures.

In Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, we are reminded that “two are better than one,” and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. This truth resonates deeply within our church family. As we honor the sacrifices of those who came before us and nurtured the faith of the younger generations, we strive to see Jesus in one another. May we embrace the diversity of gifts and perspectives within our community, recognizing that our collective commitment to Christ binds us together in love.

In the coming weeks, let’s reflect on the lessons from Saul’s journey to Paul and the enduring wisdom of Ecclesiastes. We are building a strong and resilient family grounded in faith, hope, and love.
