Center City Church Announces Updates to Location, Food Giveaway, and Summer Services

Altoona, PA

Center City Church has announced that it has moved its primary location, and is now in a soft-opening phase at 1220 12th Avenue, downtown Altoona in the former 1st United Methodist Church – Brownstone Building.

From now, through the summer, Center City Church’s Sunday morning services will occur at 9 am at their new location. The building has been approved for occupancy during renovations. Services will be simplified to accommodate ongoing construction. Social distancing, masks, and temperature checks are just part of the protocols being put into place to ensure that their church family is safe.

Pastor Jim Kilmartin shared, “We are thrilled to welcome the public to worship with us this Sunday morning (Pentecost Sunday) at 9 am. We look forward to growing our church family and to being a pillar of support for this great city. All are welcome as we begin our soft-opening and look forward to our grand opening, hopefully during the holidays.”

Center City Church also plans to taper off its weekly Saturday food giveaway. Distribution continues this Saturday, May 30th, at 3 pm until supplies run out, and in a final event June 6th, also at 3 pm, with a limited amount of supplies.

“After the June 6th giveaway, we plan to evaluate the community’s need and decide on the next steps.

We want to make sure we are here as continued support for the community. However, our next steps will be based on the community’s need after our June 6th giveaway,” said Pastor Jim Kilmartin. “While it may look different, it is still our goal to serve the city. People need to keep an eye on our Facebook page and our website, to know what we plan to do.”
